Seminars and Nonprofit Consulting Services

G2G is committed to supporting individuals and organizations in the pursuit of their philanthropic goals. Our educational and nonprofit consulting services build on the concepts and practices presented in Howard Stevenson’s Getting to Giving book, and leverage our team members’ extensive experience.

Webinars

First-Dates-Fundraising-WebinarWe recently conducted a webinar on “First Dates,” in which Howard pointed out some common problems with “pitches,” and offers tips and tricks for first encounters with potential donors. That “first date” is a critical step in the courtship process, and can be daunting.

Talks and training

Howard-Stevenson-Nonprofit-ConsultingG2G’s overview talk offers the core ideas and illustrative stories presented in the book, tailored to your organization and audience. It can be conducted via webinar or a live session, with opportunity for questions and answers.

We also offer training that expands on the overview talk, using a building block approach that allows you to focus on or combine any number of fundraising topics. Programs can be half-day, full-day or multi-session.

Some illustrative examples:

  • For leadership teams (including board members and senior nonprofit executives) at a variety of organizations, we have delivered talks and short programs with case studies.
  • For development professionals at major arts institution, we developed and delivered a half day program for over 200 participants.
  • For volunteer fundraisers at a large educational institution, we provide virtual learning and face-to-face training sessions on an ongoing basis.

Based on your organization and its needs, we will help define learning objectives, and custom design an experience for your audience.  Our interactive approach fosters team building, and includes large and small group activities, and case study discussions.

Nonprofit Consulting and advisory services

G2G’s experience shows that fundraising is a common “pain point,” linked to broader issues. As needed, we can provide general assessment and planning support, or advice on specific issues, such as communications and leadership.

Expected benefits

At the individual level, we help board members, nonprofit executives, volunteer fundraisers, and development professionals understand their respective roles, and build effective relationships. Our talks and training sessions build the knowledge and skills required to make your fundraising efforts successful and – yes – fun!

At the organizational level, G2G can help build a common vision of fundraising success, and a commitment to change among key stakeholders. With that as a framework, it is possible to set ambitious but realistic goals, develop targeted fundraising and marketing strategies and plans, and build capacity for sustainable success.
